"I am not satisfied with those who despise music, as all fanatics do; for music is an endowment and a gift of God, not a gift of other persons. It drives away the devil and makes people cheerful; one forgets all anger, unchasteness, pride, and other vices. I place music next to theology and give it the highest praise." - Martin Luther
Music is an important part of life at Grace. There are many choirs and instrumental groups, and all welcome new musicians.
The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm after Grace Prime Time, and sings at the 11:15 am Sunday morning worship service. Anyone in high school or older is welcome to sing in the senior choir!
The Chancel Choir takes a break over the summer, but the Morning Stars step up to providing music then. This group practices at 10:30 am on Sunday mornings, in preparation for singing at the Traditional (11:15 am) service. Everyone is welcome!
Grace Notes is a choir for youth in grades 1 through 8. It rehearses from 5:30 - 6:00 pm on Wednesday evenings. Even if you sing in another group, please consider this one. It's wonderful to hear lots of young voices together praising God!
Amazing Grace, Fourth Sunday, and One80 provide the music leadership for the Contemporary Service each month. Amazing Grace is an intergenerational praise band that rehearses at 7:00 pm on Thursdays in the narthex. Fourth Sunday is an adult group which leads the music at the service on the fourth Sunday of the month and rehearses at 6:30 on the Thursday before the fourth Sunday. One80 is open to youth in grades 7 through 12 and rehearses at 7:00 pm on the Thursdays before the second Sunday and the fifth Sunday.
Ringspiration is the handbell choir that rehearses on Monday evenings at 6:00 pm, and plays at a Sunday morning service once a month or so. Ringspiration is open to all players in grade 5 through adult.
Break of Day is a group that meets every Thursday at 5:30 pm to learn new liturgies, hymns, etc. so that they may help with the congregational singing at the 8:30 service. You do not need any type of special training. It’s also a great time to get to know others who worship at the 8:30 hour.
