Grace's tenth annual Pet Fest and Blessing was held on Saturday, October 1, a lovely brisk fall day. There were rescue groups, music by Heart and Soul, food, free pet portraits, microchipping by Dr. Paul Szluha of MacArthur Animal Clinic, children's activities, and more. A brief service of blessing was held at 3 p.m., followed by individual blessings and prayers for pets. The third graders of Woodland school made pet-related pictures which were displayed in the school cafeteria. Free horse-drawn carriage rides and pony rides were offered and dog obedience and agility course demonstrations were held. A record amount, over $1000, was raised from bake and rummage sales and paw print impressions. All such proceeds go to area rescue groups. Our thanks to all who participated, those who volunteered, and all who made this successful event possible.ls.
